Windmill Lane Kennel - Boarding, Activities & Services Posted on November 23, 2016 by Loren ElliottNovember 24, 2016

Do you have friends or family that have a tendency to ask you to watch their dog while they are away? Let them know that you recommend that Windmill Lane Boarding Kennel would be a much better option.

(stock photo, our guests can’t escape)

Every day people face the question of what to do with their pets when they travel. Some dog owners turn over the care of their pets to well-meaning but untrained neighbors, friends, or family. The results are often unsatisfactory. Pets entrusted to such part-time custodians frequently escape or become seriously ill because of lack of reliable, frequent, and knowledgeable supervision.

Windmill Lane is a boarding kennel designed and operated specifically to care for dogs, as distinguished from veterinary hospitals, which are designed to care for sick and injured animals.

We are excited to take care of your friend’s special pet and giving them the piece of mind they will be well cared for while they are away.

If you are asking if you need to be concerned about boarding your dog…

Windmill Lane practices infection control to reduce the risk. Respiratory disease has not been a problem here. We do have a plan and facilities for isolating dogs that develop respiratory disease and for notifying owners if their dogs have been exposed to dogs with respiratory disease.

What You Should Know About Boarding Your Dog

Windmill Lane Kennel - Boarding, Activities & Services Posted on June 20, 2015 by Teresa ElliottJune 23, 2015

We dog owners all agree that dogs are man’s best friend. Sometimes we must be apart from our best friends, if only for a short time. Although there are dog lovers around the world, some places and situations simply do not allow pets. In situations like these, choose to leave your dog with Windmill Lane Boarding, a professional boarding facility.

Boarding is becoming an increasingly common option for dog owners these days. Windmill Lane now offers boarding services to dog owners.  Before deciding to leave your dog with us, there are some things to take into consideration.

While it is ideal to start boarding your dog early, our priority is the minimize stress at any age. Just like their human counterparts, dogs do feel some sort of separation anxiety. Dogs that have had boarding experience before they are 5 years old tend to adjust better to kennel conditions as they may still have memories of “litter socialization.”

Choosing Windmill Lane Boarding is a good decision. Now that you have found us, Contact Us to arrange for a personal visit with us so you can evaluate us on several factors.

  • Our overall appearance of the facility is important. Take note of the cleanliness of the area. Daily cleaning ensures your dog’s health while you are absent. You will be given the opportunity to view where your dog will stay.
  • Security is a very important consideration. Rest assured that your dog will be taken care of and will not have the chance to escape. The tendency for pets is to look for their owners when they are not around. We have tight security regarding this matter.
  • Your dog’s safety is of utmost importance. Inspecting our facility allows you to see that there are no potential harmful objects or substances. It is also necessary for your dog to be alone in his temporary home. To minimize stress that might arise due to the presence of other guest, there are solid dividers between the accommodations. This is especially important for male dogs, which may be more aggressive than others.
  • Other important considerations regarding the living quarters are temperature, bedding, ventilation, and lighting. Our conditions are as close to your dog’s normal living conditions as much as possible.

Leaving your dog, even if only for a few days, is a serious matter. Choosing to visit us prior to their first stay may take some time from your busy schedule, but it is better to ensure their comfort rather than to subject them to undue stress.

Contact Us today to schedule a visit for you and your dog.

We recommend Windmill Lane for your pet boarding needs

Windmill Lane took excellent care of our boxer, Ruger, when we had to go away for a long weekend!! Ruger had never been to Windmill Lane before, or away from us for very long, but they treated him like their own, with kindness and compassion, and gave us a tour of their facility, putting Ruger and ourselves at ease before leaving. When we arrived to pick him up, Ruger was calm, happy, and didn’t want to leave. Their facility is clean, well cared for, and has ample space, both inside and out!! We recommend Windmill Lane for your pet boarding needs, and will be taking our fur baby back, when we need to be away from home, and he can’t go with us.

Zeus gets so excited…

Zeus gets so excited when we turn into Windmill Lane and he pulls like crazy to get to Theresa, who he clearly adores. I especially appreciate the huge outdoor play area, surrounded by a secure 10 foot high fence. It’s comforting to me, to know that Zeus gets lots of time outside in a safe and secure environment. Windmill Lane is a small family business, run in a professional and safe way, by loving caregivers, who truly value their pet guests.
